Good News of Great Joy

A prophecy fulfilled

The people who walk in darkness will see a great light

Those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them.

For a child will be born to us; and the government will rest on his shoulders;

and his name will be called Wonderful Counselor,

Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9

As you reflect on this Scripture passage receive these prayer requests from some of our staff workers.

Pray for our children and their families and guardians. May the children who know Christ remain in their faith. Many in Uganda believe in witchcraft, and children are lured into darkness when away from their brothers and sisters in the Christian community. Help them see Hope and Light and Truth. May they stand strong.

Pray for peace and resolution with the political unrest. The Ugandan presidential elections will be held January 14. Challengers to the current president have been arrested and beaten. There is violence in the streets. Pray for Salem and other communities that have lost loved ones.

As closures and changes from Covid create new challenges, pray that our leadership will together seek after God and understand His direction as we support our children. May God provide clarity – a light – to any uncertainty. God promises something new: a roadway in the wilderness (Isaiah 43:19). May the pathway ahead be certain.

Praise God for the four students who will graduate in December from individual skills internships. Pray for sponsors for the new children who have been left without a home or support. Pray for new care and educational opportunities to open.

Worship God for his continued Presence and provision, for His Might, and Counsel, for his everlasting Love and for his Peace that truly passes all understanding.

Pray for full healing for those who are sick with the Corona Virus.

Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited us

and accomplished redemption for His people

To give to His people the knowledge of salvation by the forgiveness of their sins

Because of the tender mercy of our God, with which the Sunrise from on high will visit us,

to shine upon those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Luke 1
